Labyrinths are ancient tools for worship appropriated into the Christian tradition. In the middle ages, when pilgrimage to Jerusalem became dangerous, labyrinths became an expression of worship in the spirit of pilgrimage.
Pilgrimages are important, as they unsettle you out of the everyday. Take you beyond the here and now, and address the very meaning of existence beyond your own thinking and feeling.
